Introduction
This is a review of the Black and Decker (B & D) CMM1000 5 HP cordless electric lawn mower with a 19-inch cutting path. The mower has a mulching feature and comes with a rear mounted grass. The author has used this model for years and offers the following comments and advice to those considering buying a cordless electric lawnmower.
Convenience
This cordless mower is very convenient. No need to buy any gasoline or oil for the life of the mower. Because gasoline prices are so high, it is a very profitable mower. B & D CMM1000 mower initially costs more than its gasoline counterpart. However, elimination of gas and oil purchases, oil changes, filter air changes, and all the maintenance normally associated with small gasoline engines offsets the initial price.
Requires almost no maintenance, except for an occasional blade sharpening and removal of accumulated beneath the grass cutting deck and discharge chute.
Electric lawn mowers are much more quieter than their gasoline counterparts. The noise level decreases even more during the court session, the battery gradually uses its load.
Say goodbye to break again after shooting. Electric lawn mowers start via a simple lever or switch.
Finally, the outside a lever cutting height adjustment requires no tools and minimal hand strength. The height adjustment is a simple indicator showing the best height for mulching.
Security
The mower comes with a safety key that must be inserted before the cordless electric lawn mower will start. This key can not be inserted until the recharging cord is separated from the back of the electric lawn mower. The mower starts pulling the release lever of security to handle, padded, and the operation of the lever to start. The release of security should be considered during the operation of the mower handle. If the operator releases his grip for some reason, your lawn mower cordless power quickly stops.
The electric lawn mower Wireless should never be operated in wet grass, because it is an electrical device. If there are several days of rain in a row, the owner must wait until the yard has dried sufficiently before using the power mower. The instructions for this cordless electric lawn mower indicate that the battery reaches 70% of its full charge in 4 hours of loading. Experience has shown that it is better to allow the mower to charge overnight before using it again.
Power Engine
B & D CMM1000 cordless electric lawn mower has a battery of 5 HP. This is 5 HP gas equivalent at maximum torque. A gasoline lawn mower will operate at full power until the last drop of gasoline is used. The electric lawn mower will operate at or near full power for most of the time cut, and then gradually lost until one horsepower is needed to recharge.
This mower is rated by a courtyard of approximately 1 / 3 acre. Experience has shown that the mower is much better suited for 0.25 acre or less if the owner wants to cut across the courtyard in a single session. Otherwise, the mower must recharge overnight, and the rest of the lawn should be cut another day.
Battery Operating Time
This cordless electric lawn mower can operate for 40-45 minutes on a full load of grass in ideal conditions. Ideal conditions include dry grass, grass only requiring 1-2-inch cut. Tall grass and wet grass, dry grass and other groups mowings thick grass all decrease the cutting time, because these conditions require more power and drain the battery faster. Cutting the grass very low, a dull blade, and using the mulching feature will also reduce the cutting time.
Those wishing to purchase this cordless electric lawn mower should invest on the outside of the grass discharge chute cheap. This chute is not included with the mower. The mulching feature cuts the grass clippings repeatedly, and drains of the battery faster. With the external discharge chute, cut the lawn mower goes quickly.
Disadvantages
As stated above, the cordless electric mower operates at the rated power of the majority, but not all, of the court session. Factors such as grass thicker or more can reduce the amount of court time available. The drive can not be used while the grass is wet. The score cutter cordless lawn can cut 1 / 3 acres on a single charge is optimistic. This mower does best cutting 0.20-0.25 acres with a single charge.
Recommendations
B & D CMM1000 5 HP 19-inch cordless electric mower (or comparable model) is ideal for homes with approximately 0.25 meters or acres less, they do not like dealing with gas and oil, and prefer a quieter experience cutting grass. The mower is easy to operate and recharge, but some owners may have difficulty connecting the cable to recharge the mower. Note that the model reviewed was purchased several years ago and this issue could have been resolved.
If you have a small lot, are tired of keeping flammable gasoline in the garage, and hate to start a pull - lawnmower (or can not), a cordless electric lawnmower is the mower for you.
